Anne Sylvestre ‎– Anne Sylvestre N°3 (LP)

€4.95

Sylvestre avoids the cliché romantic tropes of 1960s pop. Instead, she delivers profound feminist undertones and sharp social commentary.

The backing instrumentation is purposefully minimal but flawlessly executed. By relying on Rosso's precise fingerpicking and Nicolas's warm bass hum, the production stays out of the way of Sylvestre's crisp vocal delivery. The occasional woodwind or orchestral flourish adds texture without cluttering the soundstage. The classical guitar notes separate naturally to the sides. It is a highly warm, intimate analog listen perfectly suited for quiet evenings.

It is a mandatory spin for fans of left-bank French folk like Barbara or Georges Brassens. It serves as an incredible time capsule of sophisticated 1960s songwriting that has aged impeccably well.
