MF Doom ‎– Operation: Doomsday (2 LP)

The sheer rhyme quality that MF DOOM delivers on this project is enough to permanently gain listeners attention for the duration of this project. From clever wordplay to bars that require you to pull up genius just to understand the complexity of them, MF DOOM's performance across this LP is outstanding and unmatched by any artist.

To compliment MF DOOM's fantastic lyricism on these tracks is the unique and 'drifting' production style that creates for a really smooth listen. Interesting beats followed with aspects such as vocal refrains from artists like Pebbles The Invisible Girl really make for some great sounding songs. My absolute favourite moment across this album would have to be the instrumental to '?' as this just works extremely well together; especially with MF DOOM's flow.

A nice touch that I thought further assisted this project into its greatness was the skits. While fitting well with the villainous theme, these Dr Doom skits relay a story and assist in creating a setting for this LP. Moreover, I think each feature on here blends almost perfectly with their respective tracks leaving no artist feeling out of place; this also creates for a really broad range of styles within tracks that contrast well with each other in the grand scheme of things.

'Operation: Doomsday' was one of the albums that really got me further interested in the intricacies and complex nature that is Hip Hop. This is an album that I have not for a moment stopped returning to since I heard it as I absolutely adore every part of it. Projects like these really expose MF DOOM's talent and skills with music and it's breathtaking.
