The Van Cooths are a tight-knit family unit who, on this second full-length record, definitively left behind the childhood innocence of their debut (Off to the USA). In just under thirty minutes, sisters Guusje and Dieke rip through ten lo-fi tracks that sound as if the Ramones and a '90s garage band crashed a beach party together.

The real magic of the record lies in the dynamic between the sisters. On one hand, you get Dieke's bratty, snotty punk sneer cutting through walls of heavy guitar distortion on tracks like "Shut Up." On the other, Guusje infuses a dreamy, almost fairytale-like powerpop vibe into songs like "You Said No" and "No Worries." This contrast allows the album to effortlessly bounce between raw garage-punk grit and sunny, infectious pop hooks.

What makes this record truly special is its pure, unadulterated DIY ethos.
