In 1992, Swedish singer-songwriter Anne-Lie Persson traded the pristine North-West Swedish town of Östersund for the ever-expanding landscape of Northern Groningen. Over the years, she has collaborated with a variety of artists from Groningen, Drenthe, and Friesland. Meanwhile, Anne-Lie quietly worked on the songs for her debut album ‘April in June’. A CD in the musical tradition of Swedish singers such as Silje Nergaard and Viktoria Tolstoy, but also inspired by the work of Norah Jones. Characterized as ‘Swedish West Coast’ because a number of songs feature delicate harmonies and backing vocals, produced in a ‘relaxed’ manner. ‘April in June’: stories full of fantasy and little ‘moments of reflection’ from Anne-Lie’s life, with universal themes such as longing, love, and powerlessness. The title track ‘April in June’ deals with an elderly lady who no longer sees life so clearly and mixes up the months and the seasons; confronting and inspiring at the same time……
