I$I$ – Edgar's Hair CD
I$I$ deliver a strongly psychedelic work with "Edgar's Hair," whose origins clearly lie in the 1970s. The over 10-minute opener, "Into Thin Air," begins quietly and hypnotically, but gradually builds up to an almost Motorpsycho-esque epic and is certainly one of the highlights of this record. The following "Has He Got Any Physical Defects" exudes a pure 1970s feel and somehow reminds me of a mix of early Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. It continues with the moderate "You, You, You," accompanied by a doom riff, which once again recalls the Norwegian band Motorpsycho. I also really like the 7-minute "Monkey's Chair," a rather contemplative, melancholic piece with cool horns that only gets really heavy towards the end. The 22-minute closer, "B.A.D." has a confusing sound collage unfortunately that gets on your nerves after just a few minutes. But the bottom line is that it's still a decent 70s/psychedelic work that's worth listening to.
