Despite lacking the majestic 'Never take me alive', that classic having been released after this was compiled, S.O.D. The Epic Years remains a superb distillation of the best that Kirk Brandon and his ever-changing line-up of musicians produced under the moniker Spear of Destiny. The powerful anti-war song Mickey is arguably the best of the lot, however The Wheel, Rainmaker, and Playground of the Rich are the pick of the other nine excellent tracks on offer.
