By April 2002, the absolute wreckage of the late-90s lineups was over, and the band had just released Are You Are Missing Winner?. This performance features Ben Pritchard on guitar and Jim Watts on bass. It is a lean, mean, almost primitive iteration of The Fall. There are no lush post-punk soundscapes here—this is pure, stripped-back garage-punk. The band plays with a desperate, heavy energy, likely because playing behind Smith at this time required absolute hyper-focus to avoid his wrath.
