Buffalo Tom ‎– Buffalo Tom CD

Buffalo Tom is a great band and this debut had some serious promise, particularly on the main single, "Sunflower Suit", which shows the band paying homage to their buddies Dinosaur Jr. and their idols Husker Du. Yes, the album sounds pretty different from what they'd develop into, but there's a couple of decent songs here that preview the excellent songwriting that Bill Janovitz and co. would display on Let Me Come Over and onward. That said, the songs here are merely decent and the ones that see the band really going for that Dinosaur Jr. sound are plodding and underwhelming at best. It's worth a listen for fans of the band and anyone can enjoy the scrappiness and excitement of the aforementioned "Sunflower Suit".
