De Delvers ‎– De Delvers CD

€14.95

Profound lyrics about very current topics, music that is often uptempo and danceable, with a lot of attention for the synth parts in the mix. The sound of these Delvers is often very full. The lyrics are also very present and sometimes get in the way of the experience of the music due to their length. They are often very concrete and delineated, while in post-punk we often have enough with fragments or snapshots that can be interpreted in many ways. So much for the points of criticism. Now to the bursts of genius. The intro of Appartement is particularly clever. Autostrade is a nice nod to Kraftwerk's Autobahn without it wanting to be a cover or reinterpretation. This is particularly well done, without compromises. Koud In Berlijn has a heavenly dreamy riff that alternates with an equally volatile synth. Hoofdspoken has a simple, but interesting bass line that perhaps does not get the attention it deserves here. De Ex-Soldaat has intriguing lyrics. The Last Valley tends as the most aggressive track and with its mechanical beat somewhat towards EBM. Dancing On The Bottom Of The Ocean sounds musically even more cheerful than Friday I’m In Love or Lovecats by The Cure, as a counterbalance to the message. The album closes somewhat symbolically with Zet Alles Uit, a fast, busy, full track in which literally everything of De Delvers comes together.
