Goo Goo Dolls ‎– Jed (LP Red Translucent Vinyl)

€24.95

Before becoming household names with their polished alternative rock sound in the late ‘90s, the Goo Goo Dolls were a scrappy, punk-leaning garage band. Jed, their second studio album released in 1989, captures their early days—when they were more Replacements-inspired punk than radio-friendly balladeers.

Building on their 1987 debut, Jed continues their early mix of fuzzy guitars, loud drums, and punk attitude. Bassist Robby Takac handled most of the vocals, while Johnny Rzeznik found his footing as a songwriter and frontman. The album leans into garage punk, power pop, and college rock, influenced by The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, and The Clash.

Standout Tracks:

• “Out of Sight” – A fast, melodic punk track.

• “Up Yours” – An aggressive punk anthem.

• “No Way Out” – Blends grunge-tinged guitars with a hint of their future sound.

• “James Dean” – A fun, raucous track hinting at catchy rock hooks.

Jed didn’t commercialize, but it laid the foundation for their future. The raw punk spirit evolved into their polished alternative rock sound in the ‘90s. While Jed lacks radio-ready hooks, it’s a fun, rowdy time capsule of their underground days.
